Nature lover Jian Wang has been a Senior Botanist for the Queensland public sector for the last 22 years.
In his role, Jian takes on a variety of duties to support biological conservation and environmental management.
“My days are varied. I conduct research in laboratories, but also travel the state on field expeditions to measure forest condition and health, and collect botanical data,” says Jian.
“I also undertake bio-condition assessments, compile near threatened and threatened species management profiles, conduct plant taxonomy research and provide botanical knowledge services, which underpin the sustainable management of Queensland’s biodiversity.
“I am here for Queensland, because I can use my expertise to make a difference to how our state’s future looks in terms of biodiversity and the environment.”
